Imposes further financial and trade sanctions against Belarus

05 Jul 2022

On 5 July 2022, the United Kingdom’s Government amended the Republic of Belarus (Sanctions) (EU exit) Regulations 2019. The amendments widen the financial sanctions by extending existing restrictions to a broader range of transferable securities, money market instruments, loans and credit. Also, they introduce a new prohibition on providing financial services for the purpose of foreign exchange reserve and asset management of the Central Bank of Belarus and the Ministry of Finance of Belarus and related persons. The amendments impose additional trade sanctions relating to critical industry, quantum computing and oil refining goods and technology, mineral products, arms and related materiel, iron and steel, and dual-use goods and technology. In addition, an existing prohibition on providing technical assistance to designated persons in relation to aircrafts is widened to include technical assistance provided in relation to ships.
