Ends state monopoly in power generation and water desalination

The Government of Dubai has amended the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) Law to allow and regulate the participation of the private sector in power generation and water production. The regulation ended a state monopoly of power generation and water desalination. However, water and power distribution remains an exclusive right of DEWA, a Government-controlled company.
