Introduction of a new law on privatisation

On 27 December 2013, the President of Turkmenistan signed into law a bill "on denationalization and privatisation of state property". The law outlines the basic principles of denationalization (the transformation of state firms into joint-stock companies in which the state is a partner) and privatization (the transfer to private individuals of property rights in state assets in return for payment).
