India adopted new Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy

On 10 March 2016, the Union Cabinet of India approved "Hydrocarbon Exploration and Licensing Policy (HELP)", which is the new exploration and licensing government policy in the hydrocarbon sector. The four main features of this policy are: (1) A uniform or single license framework for exploration and production of all forms of hydrocarbon; (2) An open acreage policy, which enables Exploration and Production companies to choose the blocks from the designated area; (3) An easy to administer revenue sharing model; and (4) Marketing and pricing freedom for the crude oil and natural gas produced.
