Provides additional incentives for the development of special economic zones

The Government of Bangladesh offered an additional package of incentives for special economic zones (EZs), established under the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority Act 2010. Developers and investors in EZs are now exempt from value-added tax and import duties on the items directly linked with the development and construction of the EZs. Although both foreign and domestic investors are eligible for the incentives, they will not receive the benefits if the items (such as construction materials) are locally available in Bangladesh.
