Qatar amended Free Zones Law

On 6 November 2017, Qatar issued Decree Law No 21 of 2017, amending some provisions of the Law No 34 of 2005 on Investment Free Zones. The amendments enhance and encourage economic development and investment by providing investors with a number of incentives, including, for example, exemption of export and import duties, waiver of restrictions on the origin of capital, and the freedom to set product prices and profits. The amendments also incorporate special allowances to projects that give priority to the use of local components and those that invest in logistics and communications sectors.
