Temporarily introduces FDI screening

On 31 May 2020, Slovenia implemented the Law on intervention measures to mitigate and eliminate the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic. It introduces a foreign investment screening mechanism. Foreign investors in specified sectors or activities are subject to review whether the investment poses a threat to public order or security, if they wish to acquire at least 10 percent of the shares of domestic firms. The mechanism applies, amongst others, to critical infrastructure, transport, water, aviation, media, data processing, artificial intelligence, medical and pharmaceutical technology, the supply of critical inputs and similar.
