14 Apr 2021

On 9 April 2021, the Brazilian government concluded privatization auctions to award operation contracts for several transport infrastructures in different regions, previously operated by state-owned enterprises. As a result, concession contracts were agreed for 22 small and medium airports, 5 maritime ports and 1 rail line. The contracts will grant the private investors a 30-year operating license. The auctions raised 3.3 billion reais (approx. US$600 million) and the government stated it expects at least US$1.75 billion worth of investments for the facilities under concession over the 30-year period.
