Launch of a new Export and Investment Promotion Agency - ProPanama

On 5 April 2021, a law was enacted creating a new Export and Investment Promotion Agency. The 'Autoridad Nacional para la Atracción de Inversiones y Promoción de Exportaciones de Panamá' (ProPanamá), will replace the prior entity that was dependent on the Ministry of Foreign Relations. ProPanama will enjoy autonomous legal personality under public law, with its own assets, autonomy in its internal regime and independence in the exercise of its functions.
ProPanama aims to "attract foreign direct investment and promote exports by [...] the implementation of public policies aimed at establishing instruments, strategies, programs, studies, and mechanisms for promotion, facilitation and coordination."
