Signs the ICSID Convention

On 21 June 2021, Ecuador signed the Convention on the Settlement of Investment Disputes between States and Nationals of Other States (ICSID Convention). The signing opens the process of Ecuador's return to the multilateral dispute settlement mechanism, which the South American country had denounced in 2009 (see IPM measure,18/12/2012).

In accordance with Ecuadorian law, the signature must now be ratified by the Executive branch for the Convention to enter into force for Ecuador.
