Extends the restrictions on intra-EU foreign investments until the end of 2022

On 23 November 2021, the Government of Spain adopted the Royal Decree-Law 27/2021 (Real Decreto-ley 27/2021 de 23 de noviembre). It once again suspends the liberalization of intra-EU investments until 31 December 2022. Thus, EU/EFTA investors acquiring at least 10% in a Spanish company are required to notify and await approval of the Spanish authorities. This temporary regime applies to the acquisition of listed companies operating in a strategic sector or if the investment exceeds the volume of € 500 million. The Royal Decree-Law enter into force on 25 November 2021.
