Bans investment by Canadians in occupied regions of Ukraine

On September 29, 2022, Canada expanded its sanctions under the Special Economic Measure Act to the Russian-occupied areas of the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions. Building on similar measures Canada has already imposed on the regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, the Government is prohibiting persons in Canada and Canadians outside Canada from engaging in certain business dealings in or with people from the Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions, including investing and exporting.
