Adopts new or increased taxes in various sectors

The Minister for Finance, National Planning and Trade presented Budget for 2023 on 4 November 2022, which provides for new or extended taxes. Among them: - A new tax of 2 per cent on the turnover of medium and large hotels from January 2023. - An increase in the tax rate on Immovable property belonging to foreign residents from 0.25 to 0.5 per cent from January 2024. - An increase in the tax charged to securities dealers under Business Tax from 1.5 to 3 per cent as from January 2023. - A new, special regime under Business Tax for the fish processing and aquaculture sector with a business tax rate of 15 per cent on all profits made by these two sectors from 1 January 2023.
