Chad

Introduces a Special Economic Zone regime

28 Jul 2022

On 28 July 2022, Chad introduced a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) regime through Ordinance No. 002/PCMT/2022 and Ordinance No. 003/PCMT/2022 of 28 July 2022. The admission of an activity or a company into an SEZ is subject to an approval issued by the administrative agency of the SEZ. An SEZ will be created by decree of the President of Chad, after approval of the Minister of industry. The zones of N’Djamena and Moundou have been selected as pilot areas for the livestock and meat sectors. Exempted companies operating in SEZ A (the list of eligible activities to be issued by decree) are exempted for a period of 10 years from the date of approval from several taxes. Raw materials, equipment and spare parts intended for production imported into SEZ A are exempted from import and export customs duties.
