Amends Investment Regulations 2023

09 Feb 2024

On 9 February 2024, the Tanzania Investment (Amendment) Regulations, 2024, introduced changes to the Tanzania Investment Regulations, 2023. Key changes include:

  • The Chairmanship of the Technical Committee tasked with ensuring the smooth implementation of the functions of the National Investment Steering Committee is shifted from the Permanent Secretary responsible for investment to the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Finance.
  • The Minister responsible for investment is now required to take decisions on appeals received from investors on decisions taken by the Tanzania Investment Centre within 14 days.
  • Decisions by the Minister can now be appealed in Court, offering a new avenue for recourse beyond judicial review.

These amendments aim to improve the investment climate by ensuring more efficient and responsive governance.
