On 19 April 2024, Malta has launched funding schemes to support value-added projects in Malta, including new innovative business initiatives, start-ups, expansions, and transformations that contribute to regional development. The scheme is managed by Malta Enterprise, the country's economic development agency, which is tasked with attracting new foreign direct investment as well as facilitating the growth of existing operations. It has an annual budget of €9 million and a total budget of €63 million, providing support through tax credits, cash grants, or both. Supported projects are expected to lead to new business opportunities, creation of skilled and highly-skilled employment, increased competitiveness or widening market reach. They must start within 12 months and be completed within 36 months of funding approval. These schemes aim to enhance business development and economic recovery in Malta.
