Adopt stricter rules for non-European Union banks

On 19 June 2024, amendments to the Capital Requirements Directive No.2013/36 (CRD VI) were published in the Official Journal of the European Union and entered into force in July 2024. The CRD implementation provisions introduce new rules concerning non-European Union banks conducting operations within the Union, including, in some cases, the obligation to set up a subsidiary. The amendments will be applicable as of 11 January 2026 and shall be transposed by Member States.
