Establishes a €400 million aid scheme to support industrial decarbonization and energy efficiency investment projects

09 Jan 2025

On 9 January 2025, the Government of Finland issued a decree establishing a €400 million aid scheme to support industrial investments aimed at decarbonizing production processes, improving energy efficiency, and advancing climate-neutral industries. The scheme is implemented through grants and tax credits.

Grants are available for projects with eligible costs of at least €30 million. The investment credit applies to companies undertaking projects with eligible investment costs of at least €50 million and must be applied for before project commencement through Business Finland. The credit amounts to 20 per cent of eligible investment costs, with a maximum limit of €150 million per company or group. The credit is applied as a tax reduction over a period of up to 20 years, starting in 2028.

The European Commission approved the scheme on 13 December 2024, and the call for applications opens on 13 January 2025. Funding decisions are expected to be finalized by the end of 2025.
