In Tajikistan, private investment is low and FDI is concentrated in few projects in the extractive sector. However, there is potential for diversification, including in agribusiness, tourism and textiles.

Beyond improving the investment climate and strengthening investment promotion, the IPR proposes measures to spread benefits of FDI to meet the sustainable development goals.

These include skills development, entrepreneurship and knowledge transfer policies as well as transfer of technology and linkage development.
