Parliament passed a motion for the initial development of the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone

On 29 December 2015, the Parliament of Myanmar passed a motion to commence the development of the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone (SEZ). Kyaukphyu SEZ is a 1,600 hectares area in Rakhine State and is planned to be developed as a “trade corridor” between China and Myanmar.
