Creates a new free economic zone for agricultural production and exports

On 11 November 2020, the Republic of Uzbekistan by decree set up a free economic zone “Karakalpak-agro”. The objective of the SEZ is to increase the production of agricultural products, to encourage the organization of the full process of agricultural production from seed to market delivery and the development of modern infrastructure for the provision of logistics and export facilitation. Following the decree, on 22 February of 2021 the Government adopted a resolution with an aim to attract domestic and foreign direct investments in the organization of modern greenhouses, including hydroponics, based on the cluster method, as well as the construction of modern energy-saving greenhouses on the territory of the newly established SEZ.
