Releases the Sensitive Technology List

On 6 February 2025, the Ministry of Public Safety, released the Canada's Sensitive Technology List (STL). The STL identifies emerging and novel-use technologies that the Government of Canada deems sensitive to national security and defence. It aims to prevent the unauthorized transfer of such technologies to foreign threat actors and will inform policies related to foreign investment reviews and export controls.

The list includes eleven sectors:

  3.  Advanced Materials and Manufacturing
  4.  Advanced Sensing and Surveillance
  5.  Advanced Weapons
  6.  Aerospace, Space and Satellite Technology
  7.  Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Technology
  8.  Human-Machine Integration
  9.  Life Science Technology
  10. Quantum Science and Technology
  11. Robotics and Autonomous Systems
