Introduces customs duty exemption on capital goods for lithium-ion battery manufacturing

On 1 February 2025, the Ministry of Finance of India issued Notification No. 11/2025-Customs, introducing a customs duty exemption on the import of certain capital goods used in the manufacture of lithium-ion batteries for mobile phones and electric vehicles. The measure was announced as part of the Union Budget 2025–2026 and provides targeted tax relief to manufacturers by reducing the customs duties applicable to eligible capital goods.

The notification entered into force on 2 February 2025.
