Provides State aid for electric truck charging stations

19 Nov 2025

On 17 December 2025, the European Commission approved a €1.6 billion State aid scheme to support investment in the construction and operation of publicly accessible fast-charging stations for electric heavy-duty vehicles along German motorways. The scheme operates under a competitive bidding process for eight-year contracts with a possibility for extension up to 12 years. The bidding is open to companies experienced in the construction and operation of recharging infrastructure, and is aimed at building 1,410 rapid charging points for electric heavy-duty vehicles in more than 120 non-serviced rest stops. Beneficiaries will receive aid in the form of grants and recurring payments. The scheme aligns with the European Green Deal and the Fit for 55 package.
