Adopts trading and financial restrictions against Belarus

On 16 March 2022, Federal Council adopted amendments to the Ordinance on Measures against Belarus (Verordnung über Massnahmen gegenüber Belarus / Ordonnance instituant des mesures à l’encontre du Bélarus). It introduced certain trading and financial restrictions. The Ordinance prohibits the sale, delivery, export, transit and transport of dual-use goods, certain goods related to the surveillance or interception of Internet or telephone communications. In addition, it prohibits the provision of services of any kind, including financial services, brokering, technical advice, and the granting of financial means in relation to the above-mentioned goods. Furthermore, the Ordinance introduced several financial restriction prohibiting granting of financings and any public financial support in favour of commercial activity with Belarus, prohibiting transactions with the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus.
