Introduces a temporary windfall tax on companies operating in oil, natural gas, coal, and refining sectors

On 28 December 2022, the Romanian Government adopted Government Ordinance no.186/2022, that introduces a windfall tax on companies operating in oil, natural gas, coal, and refining sectors. If the revenue of these companies exceeds the average profits of the last four years by more than 20 per cent, they will be taxed at a rate of 60 per cent. The solidarity contribution is temporary and will apply only for 2022 and 2023.
