Increases the corporate income tax for commercial banks

The National Budget for 2023 in Papua New Guinea was released by the Department of Treasury. It was presented in parliament on November 30, 2022. As part of the budget, the corporate tax rate for banks increased. Effective from January 1, 2023, the company tax rate for all commercial banks licensed under the Banks and Financial Institutions Act 2000 will rise from 30% to 45%. These budget measures were approved by Parliament on December 2, 2022.
