Imposes financial sanctions on 16 entities

On 29 February 2024, the Government of New Zealand imposed financial sanctions on 16 entities in the context of the conflict in Ukraine. The amended Regulations inter alia have made explicit the prohibition on exporting restricted items to the Russian Federation and Belarus through third countries. Also, it designated 45 individuals and 16 entities providing material or strategic support to the Russian Federation by enabling sanctions evasion or by facilitating the procurement and transfer of military equipment for use against Ukraine.
