Tightens the requirements for foreign investment in the education sector

05 Oct 2024

On 5 October 2024, Viet Nam issued a new decree (124/2024/ND-CP) to tighten requirements for foreign investment in the education sector, set to take effect on 20 November 2024.

The decree requires that foreign universities establishing branch campuses in Viet Nam must be ranked among the top 500 universities globally in the past three years. These campuses must also comply with Vietnamese regulations on facilities and faculty qualifications.

For foreign-operated early childhood and general education programmes, accreditation by a relevant educational body is required, along with a successful five-year track record in their home countries.
