Introduces Investor Pass for foreign investors

28 Mar 2025

On 28 March 2025, Malaysia introduced a new “Investor Pass,” effective from 1 April 2025. Eligible investors are: (i) new investors exploring their first investments in Malaysia; (ii) investors under consideration, including those in discussions with the government or awaiting Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) project approvals; and (iii) existing investors with established investments or affiliations with Malaysian companies. The pass allows an initial six-month stay, extendable for another six months, and includes a Multiple Entry Visa feature enabling cross-border travel during the validity period. This is a significant improvement over the current Social Visit Pass with Single-Entry Visa, which only allows stays of 14–90 days and does not offer the same multiple-entry flexibility. Applications will be processed within five working days by the Immigration Department of Malaysia, based on supporting letters issued by MIDA.
