04 Dec 2019

The 2019 edition of UNCTAD’s High-level IIA Conference, which was held on 13 November in conjunction with the 11th session of UNCTAD’s Commission on Investment, Enterprise and Development, took stock of IIA reform actions and charted the way forward towards further inclusive, transparent and synchronized IIA reform processes in the pursuit of sustainable development. The Conference convened over 80 speakers from governments, intergovernmental organizations, business, civil society and academia, as well as a large audience.

Eight groups of academic rapporteurs gave their account of the intensive working sessions that took place during the IIA Conference 2019. Discussions were organized around the areas of reform identified by UNCTAD, as well as regional IIA reform processes in developing countries in Africa and Asia, economies in transition and developed countries. The academic rapporteurs' summaries, speakers' statements and an audio recording of the closing plenary (with interpretation) are available.
